Chatelaine är ett dekorativt bälte med krokar eller spännen som bär vid midjan med en rad kedjor som hänger från den. Varje kedja är monterad med en användbar hushåll attiralj såsom sax, fingerborg, klocka, nyckel,etc.

Chatelaines användes av många hushållerskor förr.
Namnet Chatelaine härrör från den franska ordet Chatelaine används för den kvinnliga ägaren, eller hustru ägaren, i ett stort hus.

Ursprungligen var Chatelaine avsedd för att ha alla de verktyg som behövs för att kvinnan i hushållet att reda ut alla problem hon kan stöta på i sin vardag, som en trasig gardin, men med tiden utvecklades Chatelaine från att vara en rent praktiskt verktyg till en dekorativ symbol som återspeglade status för bäraren.
